The annual UWCISA Research Symposium, sponsored by the University of Waterloo, the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants, the Information Systems Audit and Control Association and the International Journal of Accounting Information Systems is being held in Toronto. Notable in the program are a presentation and a paper on XBRL. The presentation is “XBRL at 6”, presented by Glen Gray, California State University, William McCarthy, Michigan State University, Daniel Roberts, Grant Thornton and Mike Willis of PricewaterhouseCoopers. The paper is "SportsStuff.com – Reporting Financial Performance in XBRL with Assurance", presented by Roger Debreceny, University of Hawai`i and Skip White, University of Delaware. The comment period for the XBRL-GL Public Working Draft expires on Oct 10. The Draft centers around a new XBRL-GL taxonomy, which is intended to provide a standardized format for representing accounts in different systems, thus facilitating the interchangability of data.
