The Chair of the SEC has announced tht the Commission will not be requiring audits on XBRL data filed with it. This is a relief to companies who otherwise would have had to pay for the extra audit work. However, in the long term, it's a safe bet that the market will decide if an audit is needed. The Securities & Exchange Commission (SEC) has released a proposal (http://sec.gov/rules/proposed/2007/33-8781.pdf) to extend its Voluntary Filing Program to include the N-1A risk/return summary information. The comment period closes March 14, 2007. Interested parties are encouraged to submit comments to the SEC; instructions can be found within the proposal.
